Vesey Walker was the director of the Disneyland Band for fifteen years. In what was supposed to be a two week engagement at the opening of the park, Vesey created a band so well received by visitors that it is still there to this day, just with a different leader. Walter Knott created Knott’s Berry Farm, and Walt Disney created Disneyland. Both parks were near each other, but instead of competing, the two Walters became good friends. In fact, they were friends long before Disneyland was built. This is the story of their friendship.
Doreen Tracey was a Mouseketeer on the original Mickey Mouse Club TV show. She appeared on all three seasons of the original show. She went on to have a brief career in TV guest spots on other shows, and as the lead singer of a band that toured American military bases in Vietnam. She did some other interesting and even eyebrow-raising things after her time as a Mouseketeer, too.
Les Clark was one of the longest-serving animators at the Walt Disney Company, and the first of the famous “Nine Old Men” animators of the early days of the company. He started out literally being discovered by Walt himself when he was working in an ice cream shop in high school. This is his story of making his way up in the company.
