Bob Gurr is a well-known and my favorite Disney Imagineer. He started his career as an industrial designer out of college, but soon went to work for Disney. His imprint on the company can mainly be seen in the theme parks, where he had a hand in designing many of the rides. Here is Bob’s story, both at his Disney career and beyond it.
Holidayland is a lost part of the Disneyland park in California. It was only open for a few years in the late 1950s and early 1960s, but it is still remembered fondly today by those who went to it (unless they were little kids at a company picnic). Russi Taylor and Wayne Allwine were the voices of Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse, respectively, beginning in 1977 for Wayne and 1986 for Russi. They voiced these iconic characters until they passed away, ten years ago for Wayne, and this year for Russi. They also found love with each other while voicing these romantically-linked cartoon characters, and got married themselves. Here is their story.
